Position: Assistant/Associate Professor of Design
Office/Department: Communications and Visual Arts
The Communication and Visual Arts department at Grove City College is seeking to hire a full-time Assistant/Associate Professor of Design beginning August 2025. A Master of Fine Arts degree in Visual Communication Design or a similar degree is preferred. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications.
The successful candidate for the position will be capable of teaching introductory and intermediate visual communication design classes with a focus on composition, layout, typography, and other core visual communication design principles. These courses are at the core of the Design and Innovation program, which, beyond design courses, includes classes in Entrepreneurship, Communication, and Marketing. Specializations in motion design, illustration, branding, interactive design, environmental design, etc. are of interest regarding potential curriculum expansion.
The focus of the C&VA department is on preparing students for an ever-changing job market with critical thinking, creativity, and practical skills that can advance an organization’s goals and missions. Students in the C&VA department benefit from cross-disciplinary experiences in business, design, art, entrepreneurship, and more. The courses listed above include both required and elective classes for the two degrees offered by the department—a Bachelor of Art in Communication Arts and a Bachelor of Science in Design and Innovation.
