The 2017 Grove City College Wolverine Challenge’s goal is to engage 1,000 donors and unlock more than $425,000 in funds to support the College’s mission.
The Giving Week Challenge aims to get at least 1,000 people to make donations of any size to the College. Meeting that goal will unlock challenge funds that have been pledged by generous alumni and friends, including members of Grove City College’s Alumni Council and Board of Trustees.
Bonus challenges this year include reaching 75 first-time donors and 350 Greek alumni donors during the week.
The challenge runs from Monday, Nov. 27, to Friday, Dec. 1, to coincide with Giving Tuesday, a philanthropic alternative to the holiday season’s so-called shopping holidays Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
This is the College’s third Giving Week Challenge since 2015 when the McNulty Match Challenge set an online giving record for the College, raised $435,000 and engaged 772 individual donors, a roughly 700 percent increase over the same week in 2014. The first challenge was built around a donation from College President Paul J. McNulty ’80. The 2016 challenge raised $1.25 million from 856 donors.
Full Circle, the College’s Annual Fund, is the primary way donors chose to support the College. This year, nearly $1 million from the Annual Fund is supporting both need- and merit-based scholarships for 60 percent of our students. Over 5,300 alumni and 2,700 parents and friends support the College every year.
