Grove City College students return to the stage this week with the annual Fall TAP One-Act Festival.
The festival features four short plays directed and performed by students. It runs Thursday, Sept. 17 through Saturday, Sept. 19 in the Little Theatre of Pew Fine Arts Center on the campus of Grove City College. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. All plays are performed each evening.
The plays are:
- “Please Have a Seat and Someone Will Be With You Shortly,” directed by Robbie Davis ’17, which takes a look in on two psychiatric patients who have been aware of each other’s existence for months but have never bothered or gotten up the courage to talk to one another.
- “Elvis of Nazareth,” directed by Mary Grace Brown ’16 and Nathan Snitchler ’17, in which Elvis anxiously awaits his destiny in the waiting room of Sun Records in Nashville and begins to have doubts about his future. He finds solace in Moses, Solomon, a Roman Centurion, and Jesus of Nazareth himself.
- “Trash,” directed by Zack McClelland ’16, features two homeless men, Jed and Gully, who are pensive, searching souls waiting for coins and cookies in the rain and racked with tough pasts and destitute futures.
- “Philosophical Inquiry at the Edge of a Cliff,” directed by Abby Marsan ’16 and Elisabeth O’Brien ’16, is a serious and comedic Aplay that follows Nancy, a woman ready to throw herself off of a cliff, and the man who comes to stop her.
The festival is sponsored by Tau Alpha Pi, the College’s Theatre Honorary. Students Tim Lagoy ’16 and Alex Soberick ’17 coordinate the festival. Professor Betsy Craig, Department of English, is the advisor.
