The Department of Music at Grove City College will welcome Eddy Marcano for a violin masterclass in Arnold Recital Hall within Pew Fine Arts Center on Tuesday, Oct. 27 from 7-9 p.m.
Marcano, one of the great violinists and Venezuelan directors, is also recognized as one of the leading exponents of the instrument across South America. As an instrumentalist he is first violinist of the Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra, a position with which he has received the highest decorations.
As a soloist he has performed with major orchestras, and has participated in national and international festivals in almost all of Latin America as well as Germany, Spain, United States and London.
As a teacher he has taught violin at the Simon Bolivar Conservatory of Music and the Emil Friedman School. He also served as president of the Nueva Esparta Symphony Orchestra Foundation and director of the Children's Orchestra of Montalban Academic Center. He joined the faculty of the conservatory Itinerant Andean CAF. He is a member of the Music Council of UNESCO Venezuela.
Select violin students at Grove City College will be playing for him in an open masterclass, which is open to the public free of cost. This is a great opportunity to not only hear from one of the leading violinists of this generation but also the rising talents perform at the College.
