How well did Grove City College prepare you to enter the workplace?
Looking back, my experience at Grove City College was a positive and remarkable influence on me as a man and in my career. I was not only fully prepared to enter the business world based on what I learned in the classroom, but from the total experience on campus, leading and engaging in a range of campus organizations and learning to build rich, productive relationships with other students and faculty.
What things did you learn at Grove City College that were most helpful to you?
I left Grove City College as an experienced leader who learned to bring a vision to an organization and help see it through by enrolling and leading others. A key skill I also learned was being an effective and persuasive communicator which paid big dividends in work and life after college. Leading the Orchesis Dance Troupe, an OB committee and tutoring in the Accounting labs were all terrific experiences which helped me to communicate with others more clearly and impactfully. I owe Grove City College a debt of gratitude for also developing and bringing out the creative side in me. I balanced my accounting coursework with French and writing classes, performed in various school productions and, most of all, led Orchesis which gave me the opportunity to create and choreograph, bringing my ideas to life on stage. These experiences were not only highly rewarding, but it sparked in me passion for creative ideas and design which ultimately led me back to school for my MBA to transition from an accounting career to a brand marketing career which fully utilized both analytical thinking and creative skills as the foundation for a long, fulfilling career at Procter & Gamble.
