How does entrepreneurial thinking and practice influence your current work?
As the Business Development Manager at STEM Jobs, my job is to grow our company. This involves many different techniques, including new product development and lean start up principles. The position I’m in allows me to be very entrepreneurial, as we are a small company that can pivot quickly. I see the things I learned in my entrepreneurship classes influencing the decisions I make every day at work.
From your perspective as a graduate, what seems most interesting about the current entrepreneurship program?
I love the direction the department is headed. From the restructuring of the business concept competition, to the new classes being offered, to all the new students coming into the program, it’s hard not to like what I’m seeing. I have been lucky enough to return to campus as a judge for competitions that I have participated in in the past, which has been both fun and rewarding.
What is the relationship like between the students and the professors at Grove City College?
That relationship was one of the best parts of attending the College. The relationships I built with my professors, particularly those with the professors in the entrepreneurship department, have lasted beyond my time at the school. I still talk to them on a regular basis and consider them to be some of my closest friends. I think this speaks for itself, but the relationship between students and professors is incredible.
How was your faith strengthened and perhaps even challenged during your time at Grove City College?
Grove City College challenged me to understand my faith in a deeper way than I previously thought possible. There were certainly times when my faith was tested, but I always came out stronger on the other side.
What advice would you give to an incoming student?
Find a course of study you love and invest everything you can into it! It will be worth it in the end. Also, find an upperclassman within your major and ask them to be a mentor of sorts to you. This will help guide you through the ins and outs of the major and school in general.
