Key post-presidential aide to deliver Reagan Lecture

Key post-presidential aide to deliver Reagan Lecture

Grove City College’s 11th annual Ronald Reagan Lecture will feature a speaker with a unique perspective on the 40th president and his enduring legacy.

“Peggy Grande: The Reagan You Didn’t See” is set for 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25 in the auditorium of Crawford Hall on campus. The lecture is presented by the Center for Vision & Values at Grove City College.

Grande was President Reagan’s post-presidency executive assistant, working at his side from 1989 to 1999 as liaison between the former chief executive and his staff, the public, local dignitaries and world leaders. Together they created a powerful partnership as she handled his events, travel, personal and political relationships.

If anyone knew Reagan after he left office, it was Grande. She had an eyewitness view to history and may have been his closest aide through his announcement of Alzheimer’s disease and his literal final days at the Los Angeles office he maintained after leaving the presidency in 1989. She saw Reagan at his best and his most vulnerable and had a behind-the-scenes view of his interactions with everyone from the general public to figures as diverse as Mikhail Gorbachev and Margaret Thatcher, Lech Walesa and Mother Teresa.

Grande is the author of “The President Will See You Now: My Stories and Lessons from Ronald Reagan's Final Years.”

The lecture is free and open to the public. Click here for more information and to RSVP for the event.
