Grove City College’s new master’s degree in Accounting is designed to give working professionals and career-minded students the knowledge and skills to expand their opportunities for success in public, private, corporate, non-profit, and governmental accounting.
Through the online Master of Accounting (MAcc) program, students will develop the knowledge to sit for the CPA, CMA, and CFE exams while strengthening their leadership, technical, and analytical skills. As accounting serves the public trust in today’s business environment, students, will deepen knowledge of accounting principles while delving into the domains of tax compliance and reporting, information systems and controls, and business analysis and reporting.
“The master’s in Accounting program will help students position themselves for a strong career trajectory. Students will be solidly prepared for not only the CPA exam, but also for leadership positions, additional professional certifications, and higher levels of responsibility within the organizations they serve,” said Dr. Michelle McFeaters, dean of the School of Business and professor of Accounting.
The MAcc degree is offered as a stand-alone course of study for professionals or as a +1 program for current and future Grove City College undergraduates.
A MAcc degree from Grove City College affords graduates a wide variety of opportunities in public and private companies of all sizes as well as non-profit organizations and in government, including senior and executive positions in accounting, auditing, financial analysis, consulting, and management. Based on student interest, certification tracks are available in tax compliance and reporting, information systems and controls, and business analysis and reporting.
The addition of the MAcc strengthens the college's Accounting program offerings and provides another avenue to obtain 150 credit hours for licensure for the CPA exam. Grove City College Accounting alumni have maintained CPA pass rates that outpace the national averages, ranking on average in the top 6 percent of medium-sized schools nationally for first-time test takers, according to NASBA’s most recent five years of data. In addition, multiple accounting alumni have received the prestigious Elijah Watt Sells Award from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) for passing all four parts of the CPA exam on their first attempt with a cumulative score above 95.5.
The new program is the latest offering from Grove City College’s growing Department of Graduate and Online Programs. The college’s graduate programs are designed for career-focused adult learners who want to improve their positions and undergraduates who want to jump start their early career with an advanced degree.
