Grove City College inks 4+1 articulation deal with Duquesne University

Grove City College and the Duquesne University School of Nursing have entered into an articulation agreement that will guarantee qualified Grove City College students admission to the university’s prestigious nursing program.

Under the agreement, Duquesne will annually admit to its accelerated Second Degree Bachelor of Science in Nursing program up to four students who have earned a bachelor’s of science or arts degree at Grove City College, completed prerequisite courses and earned a GPA of 3.0 or better.

The unique program allows non-nursing baccalaureate degree holders to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in three semesters. What that means for Grove City College students is that within a year of earning a bachelor’s degree from one of America’s best liberal arts colleges they can earn a second degree from a university with an outstanding national reputation.

The articulation agreement supports and enhances the mission and values of both institutions, according to representatives of Grove City College and Duquesne University.

“We are excited to partner with Duquesne University School of Nursing to provide our graduates with another path to a rewarding and impactful career where they can demonstrate their leadership and serve the common good,” Dr. Robert Graham, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Grove City College, said.

The agreement demonstrates Grove City College’s commitment to ensuring students realize successful outcomes after they’ve earned undergraduate degrees and the College’s efforts to expand the benefits and increase the value of those degrees.

“We are very excited to welcome ambitious, intelligent, mission-driven nursing majors from Grove City College to Duquesne University,” said Dr. Mary Ellen Glasgow, Dean and Professor of the Duquesne University School of Nursing. “This partnership is an ideal way to further the academic aspirations of future nursing majors.”

Grove City College is one of the country’s best private Christian liberal arts and sciences colleges, routinely recognized as an independent and innovative institution that values academic excellence and faithfulness and provides an excellent return on investment for students.

Duquesne University School of Nursing is a widely recognized pioneer in nursing education, having created Pennsylvania’s first BSN program in 1937 and the nation’s first online nursing PhD program in 1997. The school is recognized by the National League for Nursing as a Center of Excellence, and the program is ranked nationally by U.S. News & World Report.
