Grove City College will team up with the Grove City Area United Way on Saturday, Sept. 17 to support the LIVE UNITED campaign during the College’s annual home football night game at Robert E. Thorn Field.
The Grove City College Wolverines will host Presidents’ Athletic Conference foe Case Western Reserve at 7 p.m. Admission is free and all fans are encouraged to stay for the postgame fireworks display at Thorn Field.
Volunteers will collect donations for the LIVE UNITED program, which is part of the Grove City Area United Way’s yearly fundraising campaign. This year’s campaign goal is $230,000 and all donations stay in Grove City to benefit area residents.
Night game donations will benefit area nonprofit agencies that provide critical services in the community, including Children’s Aid Society, Christian Assistance Network, Community Counseling Center of Mercer County, Girl Scouts Western PA, Grove City Community Food Pantry, Grove City Community Library, Grove City Education Center for Adults, Grove City YMCA, Meals on Wheels and Salvation Army, Grove City Service Unit.
The football game and fireworks display will cap an activity-filled day in Olde Town Grove City as the borough will also have its 6th annual Autumn Art Walk from noon until 7 p.m. The Art Walk will feature Foodie Fest, live music, art displays and pop-up shops throughout the downtown area.
Saturday night’s game marks the College’s 10th night home football game at Robert E. Thorn Field. Grove City will be playing Case Western Reserve for the first time since 2006.
