Grove City College’s Symphony and Chamber Orchestras will hold a fall concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, in Ketler Auditorium of the Pew Fine Arts Center on campus.
The concert is free and open to the public. It will be livestreamed at gcc.edu/livemusic.
The Chamber Orchestra is performing John Williams’ “Jurassic Park” theme, featuring the memorable French horn theme, and Soon Hee Newbold’s “Irish Legend.” The Symphony Orchestra will then perform Howard Hanson’s Symphony No. 2 “Romantic,” which merges 19th and 20th century compositional philosophy, and David Arnold’s suite from the movie “Independence Day,” highlighting the 1996 film’s action, drama, and suspense.
Both ensembles are conducted by Dr. Jeffrey M. Tedford ’00, professor and chair of the Department of Music.
“The orchestra has worked incredibly hard to put this program together in four weeks. The skills of this year’s orchestra are evidenced by their musical expression and technical ability. I’m looking forward to sharing this music with our community,” Tedford said.
