Education students recognized for commitment to teaching

Two Grove City College education students were recognized for their commitment to teaching earlier this month at the Pennsylvania Association of Middle Level Education (PAMLE) conference.

Luke George ’16 and alumna Kelly (Scobee) Truax ’15 were selected for the Learning to Teach & Teaching to Learn honor. They were two of five student teachers chosen statewide for demonstrating “both a commitment to middle level teaching as well as an awareness of young adolescent development.”

A group of Grove City College students attended the PAMLE conference in State College with Dr. Jarrett Chapman, assistant professor of education.

During the conference, Truax, George, Julia Bereck ’16 and Chapman presented “A Simulated Teaming and Scheduling Activity to Prepare Pre-Service or In-service Teachers to be Effective Teaming Participants.” The well-received session stimulated dialogue with other higher-education institutions regarding effective strategies for preparing pre-service teachers.
