How well did Grove City College prepare you to enter the workplace?
Coming out of college, I was trying to land a job in a competitive field. The career services team at Grove City College spent a lot of one-on-one time helping me uncover and highlight my unique strengths and qualifications which enabled me to get my foot in the door. Once there, the critical thinking skills I learned during my time at Grove City College allowed me have an impact immediately and rise quickly.
What is the relationship like between the students and the professors?
One of the great things about Grove City College is the small class sizes and the direct access you have to the professors. Every student is challenged and pushed, but treated with respect at the same time. Perhaps more importantly, I found that from the time I arrived to the time I graduated, the professors were just as concerned with my personal development as they were about my educational development. I truly feel Grove City College prepared me for life – not just a career.
What things did you learn at Grove City College that were most helpful to you?
Grove City College taught me to lead with a servant’s heart. That’s something I’ve carried with me throughout my career. From an entry level position to now running a company, it’s a principle that has guided how I interact with employees, colleagues and clients. It’s what I’ve found to be the bedrock of successful relationships and a fruitful career.
What advice would you give to prospective students who are considering Grove City College?
Grove City College is different. It is a counter-cultural institution that has a perspective on education and its students that’s unique from most other colleges and universities. It’s hard to choose something different. However, all the things that make Grove City College unique are the things that will have the biggest, most positive impact on your life. The Grove City College experience will challenge you, but lean into that challenge. It’ll be well worth it.
