Grove City College is ranked as a top tier National Liberal Arts School by U.S. News and World Report, reflecting the College’s high graduation rate, small class sizes, accomplished faculty and top-quality students drawn from 42 states and eight countries. The rankings, released Wednesday, were compiled by U.S. News after assessing hundreds of American colleges, universities and service academies.
The College saw its position on the respected news magazine’s 2016 Best Colleges rankings rise from previous years. Grove City College is number 134 on the list of National Liberal Arts Colleges, up from 139 last year and 141 in the 2014 edition. Schools on the list award at least half their degrees in the arts and sciences and have a student body that’s drawn from a larger geographic area than just the region or surrounding states.
U.S. News looks at a number of differently-weighted factors, including graduation and retention rates, faculty quality, student selectivity, financial resources, assessments by other colleges and high school guidance counselors and alumni giving. Grove City College posted impressive numbers in several categories, including a 90 percent freshman retention rate and an 83 percent graduation rate.
