Fireworks will light up the night sky Saturday over Olde Town as Grove City College celebrates after its annual night football game. The pyrotechnics will cap a day filled with activity in downtown Grove City around the sixth annual Autumn Art Walk.
“Grove City College and the local community enjoy a strong ‘town-gown’ relationship,” Jacki Muller, senior director of Marketing & Communications at the College, said. “We are continually working to create synergies wherever and whenever possible, and we’re hopeful that students and community members will enjoy these very special events.”
The Autumn Art Walk features the work of more than 20 professional artists, a student art show, live music, the Foodie Fest, pop-up shots, a play from Paper Sky Theatre and a free movie at The Guthrie Theatre. Art Walk activities begin at noon and continue into the evening.
Kickoff for the night game is at 7 p.m. The Grove City College Wolverines will face Case Western Reserve University under the lights on the newly-refurbished Thorn Field. Admission is free, but volunteers with the Grove City Area United Way will be at the game to raise money for the agency’s LIVE UNITED campaign.
Fans will get an additional treat as the Grove City College Wolverine Marching Band hosts Alumni Band Day, which allows dozens of alums will join the current edition of the marching band to perform before and during the game, which will be followed by the Zambelli Fireworks display.
“Teaming up with the United Way at the night game to benefit the LIVE UNITED campaign is one way that the College demonstrates it is part of the larger community that has been its home for 140 years. It’s our great pleasure that the night game is part of a day filled with community-building activity in Olde Town Grove,” Muller said.
