Grove City College Archivist Hilary (Lewis ’09) Walczak will be a panelist Wednesday, Feb. 17, at Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s annual History Department Conference.
Walczak, who earned a master’s degree in public history from IUP in 2011, will be part of the Public History Alumni panel, discussing her work cataloging and preserving artifacts and compiling a complete and accurate history of Grove City College for the University’s annual History Department Conference.
Walczak gained national attention last year when the College announced she had discovered a treasure trove of rare World War II propaganda posters in a locked drawer in the Rare Book Room in Henry Buhl Library. The posters, worth tens of thousands of dollars, became part of the College’s observance of the 70th anniversary of the end of WWII and a selection of them are on permanent display in the College’s Carnegie Alumni Center, just steps from the Archives where Walczak works.
Walczak has also taught history and political science at the Community College of Allegheny County and works as a free-lance archival consultant in her spare time.
