How big of a role did the affordability of Grove City College play in your college decision making process?
The fact that Grove City College is so affordable played a very large part in my decision to come here. Compared to other schools with the same caliber of science programs such as Calvin, Hope, and Wheaton, Grove City College’s tuition is a huge blessing.

What are some of the ways you have been spiritually engaged while at Grove City College?
I have had so many opportunities to worship and learn about God while at Grove City College. Whether it is going to the student lead worship service on Thursday nights (Warriors), engaging in hall Bible studies put on by Residence Life, being with like-minded friends and praying together, or simply the opportunity to take quiet times in the beautiful chapel on campus.

How would you describe the level of academics you have experienced during your time at Grove City College?
Grove City College is a place that forces you to put in the work. It is certainly not easy. Coming from a state university, I was somewhat shocked initially by the level of rigor and by the study skills of my fellow students. Those challenges have given me the motivation to dig in, learn, and accomplish my goals.

What drew you to choose biology as your major?
Prior to transferring to Grove City College, I was a nursing major. After receiving feedback from professors who told me to consider research or medicine as a career, I decided to find a rigorous program that would prepare me well for medical school. Grove City College’s Department of Biology is challenging, thorough, and fun with lots of opportunities to learn about the health-specific sciences.

What are some of the ways that professors ensure that students not only receive information but truly learn and understand how to apply that information?
Professors are very good in the classroom, encouraging students to ask questions. Many professors use a flipped classroom style as well, which affords students the opportunity to use and digest the information they have just been given. Tests and homework are well-designed and cause students to synthesize and use the information.

How did you hear about Grove City College?
I heard about Grove City College from an alum who is pursuing his Ph.D. at the University of Virginia.

What is your favorite aspect of Grove City College?
As a student at Grove City College, you are not just a face in the crowd. You are a person that matters, and there are so many people that are working to help you succeed.

How active are students in campus activities such as intramural, Greek life, sports, clubs, musical productions etc.?
Campus life is very active. Students partake in many groups. Most students are involved in a club, Greek group, music ensemble, or some other kind of group. Many people, myself included, are part of multiple groups.

Describe your experience in campus activities.
I am the assistant director of the Grove City College Men’s Glee Club. We are an audition-based men’s group that is designed to serve the campus and local schools and churches. We rehearse two nights every week. We sing sacred and secular music, both of which we enjoy. Examples of events that we sing at are homecoming, luncheons, concerts and performances, church services and mass, etc.
