How big of a role did the affordability of Grove City College play in your college decision making process?
The affordability of Grove City College played a major role in my college decision-making. I also applied in-state for a large state school on an honors scholarship, but even that could not compare price-wise. The value that Grove City College offers for the affordable price made the decision easy for me. Grove City College has a wonderful close-knit community, excellent academics, and exactly the kind of atmosphere I was looking for, and many of the College’s qualities would be impossible to find at any other school.

Overall, how would you describe the spiritual environment at Grove City College?
When I heard the College was "authentically Christian," I did not really know what that meant until I got to experience it. My first overnight visit as a prospective student was a Thursday night, and my host took me to "Warriors," which is a weekly time of worship and singing. I was struck by the number of students there on a busy school night, taking time to refocus and point back to their Creator. People here are serious about their academics, but through their attitudes they make it clear that they are not only here for themselves. I have gotten involved in Bible studies and have gotten to know so many people who love God and pour out His love to others. People here want to encourage you and grow with you in faith, which should always be first, both in and out of the classroom.

What drew you to choose mechanical engineering as your major?
Grove City College is very serious about its academics. I chose my major because I was looking for challenging material and had always enjoyed science and physics. The program at Grove City College certainly is challenging, but realistically so. It offers a good preparation for the rigors of a future career. The College’s attitude towards academics fosters good discipline among students that is valuable not only in school but for the future as well.

What is the relationship like between the students and the professors?
Professors here are very invested in their students’ education. The faculty does a wonderful job of being available to answer questions in office hours or via email, and their availability makes it easy for students to really grapple with material and not just receive it. The professors also value student feedback and are constantly looking for the best way to present material such that it can be truly understood and applied.

What is your favorite aspect of Grove City College?
The community. I love that everyone on campus can find a family, either through their major, freshman hall, sports team, Greek group, theater or dance group, or various clubs and activities. Students are active and love whatever they do, which makes a joyful, unique atmosphere. I heard about Grove City College through friends from back home, and I never heard a negative review. To incoming students, I would give the advice to get involved and find your group, because it is a rich blessing to be in Christian community like the kind I found at Grove City College.

Describe your experience with residence life at Grove City College, particularly freshman year.
I love living in a residence hall. I have lived with the same roommate since freshman year, since we got along well and lived so well together, and I met her through Roommate Finder. Freshman year, my hall got along well and routinely got dinner together. I loved that doors were always open on the hall; it was an open and friendly atmosphere to meet people and make friends.
