Allison (Hollenbaugh) Rittenhouse, '20

Hello and welcome! Whether you're at the very beginning of your college search, or somewhere in the middle, I'm so excited that you're considering Grove City College. This is a place for seekers: of knowledge, of faith, of lifelong relationships, and of Christ-centered community. As an alumna myself, I have been deeply impacted by the College in all realms of my life. It is truly a joy to help others find their home here. In this season and beyond, I pray that God would reveal His goodness and faithfulness to you, and that you would wholeheartedly trust His plan for your life.

About Me
Grove City College has always been a part of my life. As the daughter of two Grovers, I grew up spending time on campus, watching the homecoming parades, hearing stories about my parents' college days, and dreaming of the day that I would get to make my own memories here. I had always loved the College, but never would have imagined the ways that God would use it to transform me.

God refined and challenged me through my academics here, and my Christian worldview was strengthened into a trustworthy tool. I have always loved words and people, so my education in English and Psychology reinforced those passions and equipped me to not only have a successful career, but to serve others well. Another integral piece of my Grove City experience was my cross-country family, and the hard-earned lessons that came along with the sport. God taught me about His selfless agape love through the incredible people on the team, many of whom are still close friends to this day.

Beyond academics and athletics, my eyes and my heart were opened at Grove City College. I had grown up with a strong Christian foundation, but college was truly the first time I realized I had to make my faith my own. God radically shook my world when He sent me with a group of fellow Grovers to serve at a children's home in Jamaica; I learned so much about the steadfast love He has for His children. In so many instances throughout my four years at Grove City College, the guiding theme – and the lesson God kept ingraining in my soul – was that He is faithful through it all.

I graduated in May of 2020, married my husband (and college sweetheart – thanks, GCC!) Ben in November, and returned to Grove City College as an Admissions Counselor in June of 2021. It is such a blessing to be steeped in this Christ-centered community once again. No matter where you are in your college search, I hope to provide guidance, to give you a sense of peace, and ultimately to help you to pursue your calling wherever God leads you.

Favorite Scripture
"The Sovereign LORD is my strength; He makes my feet like the feet of a deer, He enables me to tread on the heights." Habakkuk 3:19

Favorite GCC Memory
One of my very favorites was when my cross-country team and I were running on some country roads and accidentally stole a cornstalk (we were going for a single ear but the whole stalk came out of the ground). We were dying of laughter and not sure what to do, so we proceeded to run the four miles back to campus carrying the cornstalk like a javelin. It lived in our locker room for the rest of the schoolyear.

Favorite On-Campus Activity
Being a part of the cross-country team and participating in missions trips truly changed my life. Besides those, I always loved doing anything with friends: movie nights, tea dates, long conversations, sunrise runs…
