Alex is a lover of all things sporty. During his time both playing and instructing tennis, he developed an interest in Sports Psychology and decided to start his journey as a counselor so he could better understand the mental struggles of athletes on and off the field. He obtained his Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Geneva College and spent time as an intern for the Geneva College Counseling Center before coming to Grove City.
After completing his internship at the GCC Counseling Center, Alex accepted a full-time counseling position here at the Grove. His approach to counseling is humanistic and client-centered, hinging on the idea that all of us are autonomous and have the potential to grow and find meaning in our lives. He often implements skills and strategies from behavioral therapy models as well, including CBT and DBT.
Alex enjoys helping students manage anxiety, overcome academic challenges, and navigate major life transitions. He wants them to know that counseling is not as scary as it might seem! Every student has the power to set the pace that is the most comfortable for them.
Some of Alex’s favorite self-care activities are listening to music, writing in nature, taking mini-trips, and spending some much-needed time relaxing with his cats.
