Grove City College offers several programs accredited by the ABET Computing and Engineering Accreditation Commissions:

• The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET, www.abet.org.
• The Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, www.abet.org.
• The Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, www.abet.org.

Program Educational Objectives

Program educational objectives describe what graduates are expected to attain within a few years of graduation based on the needs of the program’s constituencies.

Student Outcomes

Student outcomes describe what students are expected to know and be able to do by the time of graduation. These relate to the knowledge, skills, and behaviors that students acquire as they progress through the program.

Department of Computer Science

The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science at Grove City College is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET, www.abet.org. The program provides students with state-of-the-art facilities, a modern curriculum, the latest computing technologies, exciting research opportunities, and a strong Christian college liberal arts education. Graduates of the program attend top-ranked graduate programs; innovate, design, and build systems at high-tech companies; and work in support of Christian missions.

Program Educational Objectives

1. Graduates active in the computer science profession will be successful because of strong technical skills, including problem-solving and programming.
2. Graduates active professionally will be successful because of strong communication and team skills.
3. Graduates’ behavior will be guided by professional and ethical principles based on Biblical truths and a Christian worldview. 

Student Outcomes

1. Analyze a complex computing problem and apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions.
2. Design, implement, and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program’s discipline.
3. Communicate effectively in a variety of professional contexts.
4. Recognize professional responsibilities and make informed judgments in computing practice based on legal and ethical principles.
5. Function effectively as a member or leader of a team engaged in activities appropriate to the program’s discipline.
6. Apply computer science theory and software development fundamentals to produce computing-based solutions.

Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering

Grove City College offers a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) that is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, www.abet.org. In consultation with our advisory board and students, the faculty of the electrical engineering program have defined the following educational objectives and student outcomes to guide our program. Note that the advisory board includes industry representatives, graduate school representatives, and alumni.

Mission

The mission of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is to produce graduates who can pursue leadership roles in the electrical engineering profession.

Program Educational Objectives

• Graduates will be active in the electrical engineering profession or an alternative field consistent with their God-given calling. Our graduates will assume leadership roles as a result of having demonstrated strong technical abilities as well as communication and teamwork skills.
• Graduates will set career goals and engage in life-long learning through self-study, continuing education courses, and/or formal graduate education in order to reach those goals.
• Graduates will demonstrate ethical behavior in the workplace and will carry out their professional duties in a manner that is consistent with a Christian life perspective.

Student Outcomes

1. An ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex problems applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics.
2. An ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors.
3. An ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences.
4. An ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts.
5. An ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives.
6. An ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions.
7. An ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies.

Department of Mechanical Engineering

Grove City College is one of a select group of Christian colleges in the country offering the Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) degree in a program accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, www.abet.org.

Program Educational Objectives

• Graduates will be successfully employed in the mechanical engineering profession or in an alternative field. Many of our graduates will assume leadership roles in these positions and be recognized as effective communicators and team members.
• Graduates will engage in life-long learning through self-study, employer sponsored continuing education courses or workshops, or through formal graduate level education leading to an advanced degree.
• Graduates will demonstrate ethical behavior in the workplace and will carry out their professional duties in a manner that is consistent with a Christian worldview.
