From 7:30 to 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13 the Department of Physics will have numerous telescopes set up on the lawn south of Rockwell Hall on campus for a viewing session, led by resident astronomer Dr. James Clem, professor of Physics. Physics faculty will be on hand to help the public experience and understand a variety of beautiful celestial objects – including the rings of Saturn, the Andromeda Galaxy, the Ring Nebula and more – that are visible in the autumn sky. As well as getting an eyeful of the universe through an array of telescopes, attendees will be able to see live-streamed images from Grove City College’s robotic observatory located near Edinboro, Pa. The event is free and open to the public. Refreshment sales will benefit the College’s Physics Club. People are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the evening in comfort.
