The Career Fair is Grove City College’s signature recruiting and networking event. This year’s event will draw 155 employers and graduate schools from 24 states across the country and more than 1,100 students. Past recruiters have had great success identifying high caliber students for their full-time positions, internship opportunities, summer employment and graduate programs at the fair. Of the many recruiters participating in this year’s event, more than 100 of them are Grove City College alumni. Representatives from companies like Abarta Coca-Cola, Chick-Fil-A, EY, FBI, Honda R&D, Marathon Petroleum Company, Mylan, PNC Financial Services Group, PPG, Ryan Homes/NVR, Samaritan’s Purse and UPMC will be in attendance, as well as representatives from graduate schools, law schools and seminaries around the country. In the weeks leading up to the Career Fair, the College’s Career Services Office (CSO) has held a number of information sessions for students on such topics as resume writing, developing an “elevator pitch” for recruiters at the event and searching for internships. Students have also benefitted from a “How to Work a Career Fair” presentation led by Megan (Kildea ’08) Metcalfe from UPMC where they learned how to navigate the fair successfully. The fair is open to all students at the College and the CSO will run a LinkedIn photo booth to help students present a professional face with their online profiles. Aside from the Career Fair, the CSO accommodates employers for information sessions and on-campus interviews the days surrounding the Career Fair and throughout the school year. Additionally, the office recently transitioned to a new online career management platform called Handshake that will connect students with hundreds of thousands of employers throughout the country, as well as jobs, internships, events, interview schedules and resources. These are the types of efforts that give Grove City College the excellent reputation for post-graduate career outcomes and return on investment.
