Music lovers are in for a treat this weekend with a pair of concerts presented by the Grove City College Department of Music.
The College Orchestra will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 22 in Ketler Auditorium of the Pew Fine Arts Center on campus under the direction of Dr. Jeffrey Tedford ’00, department chair and associate professor of Music.
The Orchestra concert will feature themes and classical works from movies, with the Chamber Orchestra performing themes from “Forrest Gump,” “Pirates of the Caribbean,” and “Schindler’s List,” along with Mozart’s “Eine Kleine Nachtmusik,” a soundtrack staple. The Symphony Orchestra will take on Barber’s “Adagio for Strings” from “Platoon,” the second movement of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 “Allegretto,” and themes from “The Magnificent Seven” and “Back to the Future.”
The College’s Spring Choral concert at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, April 24 in Harbison Chapel features ensembles under the direction of Dr. Katherine Mueller, associate professor of Music and director of Choral Activities, and accompanied by Dr. Bradley Fitch, college organist.
The combined Concert Choir and Touring Choir will perform French composer Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem. The program also features the 12-voice Chamber Singers.
