The Grove City College Showcase Series presents soprano Kirsten Arnold at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28 in Arnold Recital Hall of the Pew Fine Arts Center on campus.
Arnold is most known for her portrayal of the title role in “Salome,” which she has sung at the Metropolitan Opera, Opera Hong Kong, and Florida Grand Opera. She will be accompanied by Grove City College Piano Instructor and alumna Katie Phelps ’07.
Arnold has made a name for herself performing difficult roles in impressive venues at a moment’s notice. She made her Carnegie Hall debut singing Maria in Strauss’s “Friedenstag” with just two days’ notice. And her Metropolitan Opera debut as Salome came with just hours’ notice. She first joined the roster of the Metropolitan Opera as a cover of Isolde in “Tristan und Isolde” and rejoined the Metropolitan Opera roster last season for “Die Walküre.”
A champion of new music, Arnold has been recorded on the Newport Classics Label and has appeared with American Lyric Theater and American Opera Projects.

The performance is part of the College’s Showcase Series, which brings creative and cultural offerings to campus each year for student and community enjoyment. Curated by Dr. Jeffrey Tedford ’00, chair of the Department of Music, the series highlights the arts as an integral part of the Grove City College experience.
