Grove City men win PAC indoor track and field title

The Grove City College indoor men's track and field team captured the Presidents' Athletic Conference championship Thursday night by accumulating 140.5 team points at Youngstown State University's Watson and Tressel Training Site.

The Wolverines earned a 15-point margin of victory over runner-up Washington & Jefferson (125.5 points). It is Grove City's first conference title in men's indoor track and field.

Head coach Jessica Cooper earned the conference's Coach of the Year award. The Wolverines placed third at the indoor championships in both 2022 and 2023.

Four men earned wins for Grove City, led by double-winner sophomore Alex Mitchell, who won the 200 meters in a school-record time of 22.07 seconds and then set meet and school records in the 400 meters with a winning time of 48.38 seconds.

Sophomore Michael Chambers won the pole vault by clearing 14 feet, 7 1/4 inches, setting a program record with his performance. Senior Nick Gustafson won the shot put with a season-best effort of 50-4 1/2. Junior Nick Petucci prevailed in the triple jump with a best leap of 44-4 3/4.
