Grove City College near the top in the nation on CPA Exam

Grove City College Department of Accounting & Finance graduates outpace their peers when it comes to passing the CPA exam with flying colors.

The College’s accounting graduates ranked 11th in the nation on the 2016 CPA examination among medium-sized programs, according to the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy, which oversees the test. It is the fourth time in five years that the College’s graduates are in the top 25 nationally.

Grove City graduates’ passing rate of 73 percent for first-time exam takers was nearly 25 percent higher than the national passing rate of 49 percent, NASBA statistics indicate.

In addition, Grove City College students are ranked third in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for schools with at least 10 graduates taking the exam.

“We are grateful for the continued success that our students have on the CPA exam. They are gifted and hard-working. Beyond their technical skills and abilities, they are also fine young men and women with outstanding character,” Dr. David S. Baglia, CPA and department chair, said. “Credit also goes to our faculty who do a tremendous job preparing students for this professional certification exam. We’ve seen a steady climb upward in our student success outcomes as the College ranked 22nd in the nation in 2014, 17th in 2015 and now 11th.”
