Grove City College modifies Homecoming plans

Grove City College is cancelling all in-person events for alumni, friends and parents scheduled for this year’s Oct. 2 to 4 Homecoming Weekend to maintain the health and safety of the campus community.

“Grove City College is strongly committed to the health and safety of our students and employees and is working diligently on plans for the resumption of in-person classes on August 24. The challenges of maintaining a healthy campus throughout the fall semester mean that it won’t be possible to deliver the high-quality experience that the thousands of visitors – alumni, friends and family – who typically attend Homecoming have come to expect while maintaining social distancing and observing limits on crowd size. We must, regrettably, make adjustments in light of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic,” Grove City College President Paul J. McNulty ’80 said.

The Office of Alumni and College Relations, which oversees the annual Homecoming celebration, said student activities and traditions that are held on campus will go on as planned throughout the week, with some modifications to meet health guidelines.

“We look forward to announcing more virtual opportunities for our alumni, parents and friends in 2020 and with anticipation toward Homecoming 2021 – Oct. 8 to 10,” Melissa (Trifaro ’96) MacLeod, senior director of Alumni and College Relations, said.

A commencement event for members of the Class of 2020 remains on the schedule for Oct. 3.
