Grove City College is a rare “Hidden Gem” and one of the best schools in the country, according to College Raptor.
Grove City College made the online college search website’s annual listing of the nation’s top schools, one from each state and the District of Columbia, that rate high on a combination of factors, including retention and graduation rates, student to faculty ratio, selectivity, and student quality.
“With our 2023 Hidden Gem Colleges, we chose to highlight great schools like Grove City College that are worth exploring for their academic, financial, and social fit,” College Raptor co-founder and CEO William Staib said.
The College’s “Hidden Gem” status has a few facets, College Raptor found. In addition to being the only college in Pennsylvania on the national list, Grove City College was named a “Hidden Gem” in the mid-Atlantic region, among religious schools, and for its affordability.
To find “Hidden Gems,” College Raptor focused on schools with fewer than 5,000 applicants and enrollments below 7,000 undergraduate students that offer five or more unique majors and have an acceptance rate above 10 percent.
Grove City College’s high freshman retention rate of 87 percent, four-year graduation rate of 80 percent, 13:1 student-faculty ratio, students’ high SAT and ACT scores, and historically low tuition contributed to its selection as a national “Hidden Gem,” College Raptor indicated.
