Forbes: Grove City College is worth it

A new, independent analysis identifies Grove City College as one of 300 American colleges and universities that are worth the investment of time and tuition.

Forbes’ “Best Value Colleges 2016” identifies schools that “provide students with the most value for the dollar.” Additionally, Grove City College is ranked in several categories:

    • 35th for liberal arts colleges.
    • 54th in the Northeast.
    • 76th in private colleges.
    • 109th overall.

“The newly released Best Value rankings are designed to identify schools that, relative to other schools, typically give students a lot of ‘bang for the buck,’” according to Richard Vedder, director of the Center for College Affordability and Productivity, which worked with the iconic finance journal on the new rankings. “The factors in the rankings take into account the answers to several questions on most student and parent minds: Will I be successful in getting through school in a timely matter (four years)? Is it likely I will get a good, well-paying job? And, of course, is it going to cost me a fortune to go there?”

The Best Value ranking is based on the overall quality of an institution, alumni salaries, drop-out and graduation rates and alumni skills vs. tuition and fees.

Quality, based on inclusion on Forbes’ 2015 list of Top Colleges, and post-graduate pay were weighted most heavily. Grove City College was 97th in the Northeast and 166th in private colleges on the 2015 list. The average early career salary of a Grove City College graduate is $48,100 and mid-career earnings average out at $84,700 per-year, according to PayScale, the market leader in global online compensation data.

“We are pleased to be recognized as a Best Value school and note that this ranking comes on the heels of the College’s recent announcement that tuition for the 2016-17 academic year will remain less than half of the national average for private liberal arts colleges,” Jacki Muller, senior director of Marketing & Communications for the College, said. “Grove City College is a great return on investment for its graduates and our students enjoy remarkable success, with a 97 percent placement rate six months after graduation.”
