Grove City College showcases the talents of regional artists this month in the Gallery of the Pew Fine Arts Center on campus.
The Area Artists Exhibit runs through Oct. 13. An artists’ opening reception featuring refreshments and live music is set for 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21 in the gallery. The exhibit and artists’ opening reception are free and open to the public. The gallery is open from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday from Sept. 21 to Oct. 13.
The exhibition, held annually at Grove City College for more than a quarter century, features a variety of art, including mixed media, painting, drawings, pottery, sculpture and photography, created by artists based in western Pennsylvania.
Gallery Director Katy Westra ’13 said the exhibit showcases many different aspects of living in the region and provides students who helped mount the show with gallery experience and an opportunity to interact with artists.
“We host this exhibit as a means of highlighting and celebrating where we are located and the people who live here. There is so much hidden talent in our area,” Gallery Director Katy Westra ’13 said. “This exhibit draws out the diversity that can often be overlooked.”
