The Grove City College Department of Education and the Pennsylvania Chapter of the International Dyslexia Association are hosting the Raising Readers conference Feb. 15 in the Staley Hall of Arts and Letters on campus.
The conference is designed to inspire, connect, and provide practical tools to support the literacy journey of young learners. It promises to be an empowering and enriching event focused on building strong partnerships between parents, educators, and literacy advocates.
Raising Readers is open to parents, educators, librarians, caregivers, and anyone passionate about supporting children’s literacy development. Participants can earn ACT 48, ALTA, CERI, IMSLEC, and Wilson CEU credits.
Keynote speaker Steve Dykstra, a nationally recognized expert in literacy and child development, will share his expertise, inspiring passion, and insights on creating meaningful change in the support of young readers, along with strategies to make a real difference.
Grove City College Education professors Dr. Richard Sabousky, Dr. Natalie Heisey, Dr. Linda Culbertson ’84, and Dr. Constance Nichols ’93, department chair, are among the speakers and conference leaders. Adjunct professor Dr. Tammi Martin and alumna Kelly Neff ’00, Butler Area School District literacy coach, are also speaking.
