Cybersecurity expert to provide insights on issues, careers

The Grove City College School of Business is hosting noted cybersecurity expert Dr. Mercer Craft to discuss issues and career opportunities in the field with students.

Mercer, a retired Navy officer, professor, and certified information security professional, will meet with students at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 25 in the Great Room of Breen Student Union on campus.

The hour-long Q&A sessions are intended to give students interested in cybersecurity and the prominent role it now plays for businesses of all sizes an inside perspective from an accomplished professional.

While on campus, Craft will also be delivering a lecture on “Strategic Implications of Cybersecurity Issues” to students in the capstone course Business Policy and Strategy.

Craft is a principal cyber engineer at Mission Focused Systems, based in San Diego California. Prior to working at MFS, he was a Lockheed Martin Fellow in Cybersecurity. He also teaches graduate level courses in Cybersecurity at the University of Maryland Global Campus and New England College.

In his current role, Craft is responsible for cybersecurity design, implementation, and authorization activities across multiple large unclassified and classified government programs. He has many years of experience with operational technology systems including commercial and military industrial control systems and their related cybersecurity impacts, including designing, developing, and maintaining industrial automation and controls systems.
