Grove City College’s Department of Music provides two opportunities for entertainment this weekend, on- and off-campus.
The Grove City College Chamber Singers perform at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 27 in Arnold Recital Hall of the Pew Fine Arts Center on campus. The performance highlights seven musical pieces spanning time, from the Renaissance through the modern era. This ensemble is features 12 singers from the College’s Touring Choir that specialize in a cappella chamber music.
The combined Concert and Touring Choirs present John Rutter’s “Mass of the Children” at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, April 28 at Tower Presbyterian Church, 248 S. Broad St., Grove City. The student singers will be joined by the Pittsburgh Youth Chorus and the Grove City College Orchestra, directed by Dr. Jeffrey Tedford, associate professor of Music and director of Orchestras at the College. The show will be conducted by Dr. Katherine Mueller, assistant professor of Music and director of Choral Activities at the College.
“This is a beautiful work that very effectively combines adult and children’s voices, accompanied by a lush orchestra,” Dr. Mueller said.
Admission to both shows is free and open to the public.
