The Grove City College men's and women's basketball teams have both received berths in this week's respective Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Championship Tournaments.
The men's team will host Franciscan at 7 p.m. Wednesday night in the Arena of the Physical Learning Center on campus in the opening round of the 15-team tournament. Meanwhile, the Grove City women's basketball team will visit Frostburg State in a first-round game Wednesday at 7 p.m.
The men's team will be making its first appearance in the ECAC Tournament since 2016. This year, Grove City has gone 16-11 overall, including a 10-6 mark in Presidents' Athletic Conference play. The Grove City-Franciscan winner will face No. 1 overall seed Hood (17-10) Friday in Frederick, Md., in the quarterfinal round.
The women’s team faces Frostburg State (15-10) in its tournament opener. Grove City is making its third consecutive ECAC Tournament appearance. The Wolverines are 16-11 overall, including a 10-6 conference record. Frostburg State compiled a 7-7 mark in Capital Athletic Conference play. Wednesday's meeting will be the first between the teams since the 1985-86 season.
The Grove City-Frostburg State victor will play either Brooklyn or Neumann in Friday's quarterfinal at Cabrini University in Radnor, Pa.
