Grove City College Women’s and Men’s basketball teams open Presidents’ Athletic Conference play with home games against Waynesburg at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., respectively, on Wednesday, Dec. 4 in the Physical Learning Center Arena on campus.
At this “Red Out” game, students and fans are encouraged to wear Christmas-themed or Wolverine red gear, cheer on the teams and enjoy refreshments, games and prizes at halftime of each game.
“This event is always a great night featuring our men’s and women’s basketball teams, games, prizes and most importantly time to spend as a campus community celebrating this special time of year together,” Athletic Director Todd D. Gibson ’02 said.
The women’s team is 6-0 which is the Wolverines’ best start since the 1982-83 team won its first 10 games. This year, the men’s team returns four starters as well as the top reserve from last year’s team that finished 18-12. The 2019-2020 team entered Thanksgiving break on a high note after earning a 75-61 win on Nov. 26 at Houghton College in New York.
As with any other Grove City College athletic team, the atmosphere provided by fans plays a big role in their success. The College encourages being “Wolverines Together,” which includes recognizing and cheering on the success of others to build a unified community.
“We look forward to seeing a full arena crowd wearing red and cheering on the Wolverines Wednesday evening!” Gibson said.
