College sponsoring EduNations Benefit Concert

Grove City College is proud to sponsor the fifth annual EduNations Benefit Concert at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14 at Memorial Park Church, 8800 Peebles Road, Allison Park, Pa.

EduNations, a nonprofit organization devoted to building schools and a future for the forgotten children across the continent of Africa, was co-founded by Rev. D. Dean Weaver ’86, lead pastor at Memorial Park Church and interim chaplain of Grove City College.

The concert features Christian music artist Fernando Ortega, a singer-songwriter whose music encompasses elements of folk, bluegrass, Celtic, classical and Latin American sounds. Ortega penned the original radio hits This Good Day” and “Jesus, King of Angels,” but is best known for his famous renditions of classic hymns such as “Jesus Lover of My Soul,” “Be Thou My Vision” and “Give Me Jesus.”

Doors open at 6 p.m. for a Festive Hour preceding the concert, which will include a time for guests to enjoy a gift basket raffle, free appetizers, refreshments and a musical performance at 6:40 p.m. by special guest Matthew Montgomery, the church worship team's coordinator for Grove City College, who will perform songs from his new album, “Simple Words.”

EduNations is motivated by compassion for “the least of these” and connects resources from affluent societies with the needs of the poorest in the world providing education, opportunity and hope. The annual benefit concert is one of the primary fundraising events for the organization each year.
