The Grove City College Wind Ensemble will present its fall concert, “Autumn Serenade” at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17 in Crawford Hall Auditorium on campus.
The ensemble will perform pieces from various decades of the 20th Century, including “Where Never Lark or Eagle Flew” by James Curnow, “Dillon’s Flight” by Ralph Ford, “Fantasy on American Sailing Songs” by Clare Grundman, “Mountain Thyme” (A setting of The Braes of Balquhidder), and “The Chimes of Liberty” by Edwin Franko Goldman.
The concert is free, open to the public, and will be livestreamed at gcc.edu/livestream.
Directed by Dr. Andrew S. Erb, professor of Music and Director of Bands, the Wind Ensemble is the select wind band on campus. A smaller group in the vein of the traditional open instrumentation style of wind ensembles, it performs literature of highest caliber in the wind band repertoire. The Wind Ensemble has premiered several new works in recent years.
