The 2021 Grove City College Senior Man and Woman of the Year awards were presented, respectively, to Jesse R. Belitz ’21 and Hannah Tarolli ’21 on Thursday, April 29 during the College’s annual Recognition Convocation.
The awards are presented jointly by the leadership honoraries Mortar Board and Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) as a service to Grove City College. The selections are made on the basis of scholarship, leadership and service. The candidates were voted on by students and faculty.
Belitz, of Independence, Ohio, is a Middle Level Math/History Education major with a minor in Biblical and Religious Studies. Award nominations describe him as a genuine, hardworking, dedicated and thoughtful “leader among his peers. Belitz, a member of ODK and Kappa Delta Pi, the education honorary, serves as assistant resident director in Colonial Hall Apartments and student ambassador for the admissions office. He was team leader on one of two ICO missions to Dominican Republican and is a member of the Touring Choir and Clarinet Ensemble.
Tarolli, of Syracuse, N.Y., is a Biology/Health major. Nominators say she’s a gifted student and athlete and a “quiet, humble servant who loves everyone around her.” As well as playing on the varsity tennis and club lacrosse teams, she has conducted several independent research projects, served as a teaching assistant in the Department of Biology and co-edited the Eta Zeta Biology Journal. She’s a member of the Pre-Health Society, an admissions office student ambassador, treasurer of Crown & Scepter and Secretary of ODK.
The senior awards are the highest honors that the College can bestow on students. Their names are recorded for posterity on a memorial plaque on a boulder outside Harbison Chapel on campus. Former recipients of this prestigious honor have gone on to become leaders in faith, education, business, law and health care.
Nominees for Senior Woman of the Year included: Shannon Brawley, Reilly Diggins, Molly Sears, Allison Smith and Paige Stitt.
Nominees for Senior Man of the Year included: Karl Heiser, David Hutchison, Jonathan McCaslin and Stu Rozendal.
