Grove City College’s 20th Annual Career Fair will be held Wednesday, Sept. 26 in the IM Room of the Physical Learning Center on campus.
The Career Fair is Grove City College’s signature recruiting and networking event. This year’s event will draw approximately 163 employers and graduate schools from 26 states across the country and more than 1,100 students.
Past recruiters have had great success identifying high caliber students for their full-time positions, internship opportunities, summer employment and graduate programs at the fair. Of the many recruiters participating in this year’s event, more than 140 of them are Grove City College alumni.
Recruiters routinely say they are impressed by the quality and preparedness of Grove City College students and see it as a key source of future hires.
Employers represented at the Career Fair include: Abarta Coca-Cola Refreshments, Cardone Industries, FedEx, ENSCO, Inc., Gecko Robotics, Inc., Marathon Petroleum Company LP, Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, FBI, PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, PNC Financial Services Group, The Timken Company, UPMC, Armstrong World Industries, Honda R&D Americas, GE Transportation, CCO, Chick-fil-A, The Heritage Foundation, Lockheed Martin, PPG, Bethany Christian Services and The City Mission.
The fair also draws representatives from graduate schools such as Gordon College, Chatham University, Duquesne University, University of Pittsburgh, Penn State Dickinson Law, Penn State Law and Liberty University.
In the weeks leading up to the Career Fair, the College’s Career Services Office (CSO) holds a number of workshops for students on such topics as resume writing, searching for internships, and how to develop an “elevator pitch” for recruiters at the Career Fair.
The fair is open to all students at the College and the CSO will run a LinkedIn photo booth to help students present a professional face with their online profiles.
Aside from the Career Fair, the CSO accommodates employers for information sessions and on-campus interviews the days surrounding the Career Fair and throughout the school year. Additionally, the office uses an online career management platform called Handshake that connects students with hundreds of thousands of employers throughout the country, as well as jobs, internships, events, interview schedules and resources. These are the types of efforts that give Grove City College the excellent reputation for post-graduate career outcomes and return on investment.
Within six months of graduation, 96 percent of the Class of 2017 was either working or in graduate school. Over 20 years, a Grove City College degree yields a $374,000 return on investment, according to PayScale.com, which also reports an average early career salary of $50,700 and an average mid-career salary of $101,200 for alumni.
