Grove City College celebrates our common desire to love God with our whole being, and as an academic community, regular worship is an important part of life on campus. God invites us to participate with Him in worship and our chapel gatherings celebrate God’s Word through congregational singing. Students, faculty, and staff come from a variety of Christian customs and our singing aims to enable everyone to participate through historical traditions as well as modern expressions. Students are invited to participate in chapel by joining a music team that enables our community to sing and pray with approachable styles and excellent artistry. Student applications and auditions are held each October. We believe that worship leaders must not only be excellent artists, but mature Christ-following disciples. Therefore, the chapel worship ministry also seeks to build a sincere community of faith that forms leaders to follow God’s call into ministry on campus and beyond. Wednesday chapels focus on singing songs that highlight the preaching of the Word for life on campus. Students are invited to respond to gospel proclamation through singing and prayer. Friday prayer services participate with God’s Word through the ancient practice of Lectio Divina, in which we read, sing, pray, and meditate on Scripture together.
