Re-dedicated in 2021, the Staley Hall of Arts and Letters houses all of the departments in the Alva J. Calderwood School of Arts and Letters except for music. It is a three floor, state-of-the-art building with numerous open spaces as well as nooks for studying or group work.
Built in 2002, the building holds the College's Education Curriculum Library and the Sticht Lecture Hall (site of numerous high profile and guest lectures of national stature). Technology is tops with cable internet connections and high-quality wireless easily accessible throughout the facility. Classrooms include case-style lecture rooms, lab desks, flexible seating arrangements, and seminar rooms to facilitate class discussion for smaller, usually upper-level, classes. Most classrooms are equipped with multimedia platforms for learning.
The building boasts a stunning balcony on the third floor in addition to an outdoor classroom and our pre-school on the first floor. To the west, the building looks out to Breen Student Union and a courtyard.
All faculty offices are set up in suite-style arrangements that facilitate faculty-student interaction. They are also used for small departmental receptions and provide additional space for study or group work during the day.
