Any enrolled Grove City College student with a documented disability may request services through the Disability Services Office. Documentation is required, must follow the General Guidelines for Documentation, and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Documentation assists our office in understanding how the disability impacts the student in an academic setting, and the current impact of the disability as it relates to the accommodations requested. In most cases, documentation must be recent (within the last three years).
Reviewing documentation is a collaborative process and each piece of documentation is handled on a case-by-case basis. The eligibility determination process is not a same-day process. Once documentation is received, it will be reviewed in order of receipt; therefore, it is recommended that documentation be submitted well in advance of any accommodation-related needs.
Students should submit at least one of the following to the Office of Disability Services as documentation of their disability:
A full psychological evaluation or diagnostic report from a licensed psychologist, psychiatrist, or other relevant, licensed specialist provides the richest information to determine the best possible accommodations and support.
Students may submit an IEP/504 plan or proof of accommodations from another institution.
Please note: Many IEP or 504 plans do not include all of the necessary information outlined on the guidelines for documentation, which is needed to evaluate an accommodation request, and additional documentation may be required. Additionally, accommodations for higher education often differ from basic (K-12) education. Although proof of prior accommodations can provide us with necessary information, we are not able to utilize the same accommodations in all cases.
All accommodations requested will be discussed in the first welcome meeting with the Disability Services Office and accommodations are approved on a case-by-case basis. Any other accommodations specific to your disability must be requested and approved.
