Undeclared Liberal Arts, Sciences, or Business

Undeclared-Liberal-Arts-Sciences-body_0424

Explore your options, pursue your calling.

If you are undecided about your major, you’re not alone. We have helped countless students find their vocational callings and pursue them well. Whether you feel unsure about your interests or lack direction, we offer three tracks for undeclared majors — Undeclared Liberal Arts, Undeclared Sciences, and Undeclared Business. Any of these tracks would set you up to transition into a major pathway that fits your unique gifts and opens doors to exciting career options. With intentional academic and career advising, more than 70 majors to explore, and a high four-year graduation rate, Grove City College is an ideal place to enter as an undecided major and find your calling.

While several majors have a tight, eight-semester curriculum, others are more flexible and may be declared during your freshman year or by the end of your sophomore year — at which point most of our undeclared students easily find their fit. If you are seeking guidance in selecting a major, we encourage you to contact Dr. Jim Thrasher, Senior Advisor to the VP for Student Recruitment, who assists undeclared prospective students during the college search. If you would like to meet with him in person, you are welcome to schedule an appointment as part of your campus visit.

Program Distinctives
  • Rigorous education from a Christ-centered perspective.
  • Accessible faculty mentors – Personal access to highly accomplished Christian faculty with degrees from such prestigious institutions as Oxford, Cambridge, Princeton, Yale, Michigan, Carnegie Mellon, and MIT, to name a few.
  • More than 70 majors – Choose from a wide range of STEM, liberal arts, and business majors. Many of our programs offer the flexibility to double major or add one or more minors.
  • More than 60 minors – Choose from a variety of interdisciplinary studies to complement your major(s).
  • Career Services Office – Our award-winning Career Services Office (CSO) offers exceptional career counseling and resources and is frequently ranked in the top 20 nationally by The Princeton Review.
    • The CSO emphasizes self-assessment as integral to the pursuit of your vocational calling, and our four-year plan is especially useful in helping undeclared students stay on track with career preparation.
    • At any point in your self-assessment and journey to find your calling, you can take advantage of the CSO's comprehensive coaching and programming designed to prepare you for your internship and job search, graduate school, and the professional working world.
  • Vocation-enriching humanities core – Deepen your critical thinking, writing, and other communication skills while cultivating empathy and a well-rounded worldview.
Career Opportunities & Outcomes
  • Outstanding career outcomes – Like 95% of our graduates, you will be prepared to secure top full-time positions or entry into distinguished graduate schools within six months of graduation.
    • Our alumni are making an impact across all industries — with big names like Honda, Lockheed Martin, Ernst & Young, Mayo Clinic, FBI, Samaritan’s Purse, and other employers including thriving start-ups, schools, nonprofits, and mission organizations around the world.
    • Many of our high-achieving graduates have pursued further education at Duke, Carnegie Mellon, Johns Hopkins, Columbia, Penn State, NYU, Michigan, UVA, and other reputable institutions.
  • Exceptional support services – Even as an undeclared student, you are still likely to graduate in four years — like 78% of our students (compared to the national average of 53% for private colleges and universities). This is largely due to the guidance of faculty advisors, as well as our dedicated Career Services Office and Academic Resource Center staff, flexible class scheduling, and a motivating environment where students encourage each other to be faithful stewards of their time and resources.
  • Excellent career preparation – Wherever your calling takes you, you will be well equipped for a meaningful and rewarding career. With a degree rooted in Truth and enhanced by the liberal arts, you will be a thoughtful and intentional person of integrity who can think critically, communicate well, and add value to your field. Our students are known for their solid work ethic and teachable spirit, both of which speak volumes to employers regardless of industry.
Program Specifics
  • Curriculum options – Three tracks available, all of which give you freedom to explore different pathways before declaring a specific bachelor of arts or bachelor of science degree. For a breakdown of required credits, refer to the Undeclared Status Sheet. For detailed course descriptions, refer to the College Catalog.
    • Undeclared Liberal Arts: If your interests lie in social sciences, humanities, or teaching, this would be the track for you.
    • Undeclared Sciences (STEM): If your interests lie in science, technology, engineering, or math, this would be the track for you.
    • Undeclared Business: If your interests lie in accounting, management, marketing, or finance, this would be the track for you.
    • Both tracks consist of general studies, our humanities core, and foundational courses in your general area of interest to prepare you for one (or more) of our degree programs.
    • When you enroll as an undeclared student, the offices of the Registrar and Academic Advising will work with you to schedule your fall semester with a sampling of courses that align with your major(s) of interest.
    • Our Undeclared Advising Plan provides you with a number of action steps and resources to guide you through the major exploration process.
