Internships & After Graduation

Internships

Every student earning a Bachelor of Science degree in exercise science must complete an internship of at least 300 hours of on-site, in-person work. For students planning to continue their studies in physical or occupational therapy programs, these internship hours may count towards observation hours. Internships may be completed during the fall, spring, or summer.

What is the process?

1. You will work with your faculty advisor to identify potential internship sites and review all work to be completed. After identifying several possible sites, you will contact each to discuss the possibility of completing an internship with those facilities.
2. After choosing a site, you will complete the internship application. This application requires signatures from your parent/guardian and faculty advisor. The Exercise Science Coordinator will review the application and provide the final signature before submitting it to the Office of the Registrar. May Study Day is the application deadline for summer and fall internships. December Study Day is the deadline for spring internships.
3. The final step is to complete the internship and submit all work to your faculty advisor at the conclusion of the experience.
