Do you envision yourself educating students in the sciences? With a Bachelor of Science in Biology and General Science Secondary Education from Grove City College, you will build a solid foundation in biology and general science and be equipped to mold young minds, hearts, and hands. You will benefit personally and spiritually from the Christian grounding of your education, whether you go on to teach in a Christian or public school. Unlike most biology education majors, our program combines a full biology degree with exceptional education preparation to produce middle and high school biology teachers of the highest quality.

Program Specifics

    • 100 credit hours of rigorous biology-specific undergraduate coursework with freedom to choose one course from each of four sub-discipline groups.
      • Group 1: Molecular Mechanisms and Physiology
      • Group 2: Vertebrate Systems
      • Group 3: Natural History
      • Group 4: Environmental and Ecological Diversity
    • 22 credit hours of general science coursework, curated to qualify you to teach middle and high school-level general science classes.
    • 40 credit hours of professional education coursework including foundations of teaching, culturally relevant pedagogy, technologies of instruction, educational psychology, and field experience/methods of teaching science.
  • Practical field experiences incorporated into every education course.
