The Department of Entrepreneurship at Grove City College connects students with employers and alumni in the fields that best complement their classroom learning experience and specialized interests. Many of our entrepreneurship majors find internship opportunities with start-ups, business incubators, large corporations, small businesses, family businesses, nonprofit entities, and mission-minded organizations and can earn up to six credits for their internship experiences.
Each summer, the Praxis Emerging Founders Program offers an intensive nine-week, entrepreneurial immersion experience for undergraduates and recent graduates who are interested in a career of purposeful innovation and who are serious about their faith. Read about Hannah Vaccaro ’18 and Ross Harrington ’17 who participated in the Praxis Emerging Founders Venture Track.
In 2023, 97% of Grove City College business graduates found employment or gained admittance into a graduate program within six months of graduation. (View more key metrics related to enrollment, graduation, and performance on national tests.)
A degree in entrepreneurship provides students with a great deal of flexibility and freedom after graduation. Our students design a professional life that fits their passions and strengths and typically follow one or more of the following avenues:
Grove City College entrepreneurs learn the discipline and process of innovation in the start-up context. Many of our graduates begin the process of starting a company while they are still in school, and some of them are ready to launch their business upon graduation. Many also choose to work for another company while simultaneously preparing for the launch of their own start-up.
The task of innovation is as important to experienced businesses and corporations as it is to start-ups. For that reason, many of our graduates find corporate career opportunities for which they are well-prepared such as sales, marketing, business development, financial services, and digital marketing.
Students who want to deepen their experience and understanding of the start-up environment often choose to work for a start-up organization in the early part of their career, engaging in various aspects of the growth and development of the company.
During their time at Grove City College, many of our students develop a passion for social entrepreneurship and social impact. Nonprofit development and organizational management require the same kind of entrepreneurial leadership needed to be successful in the for-profit world, and our students find nonprofit work to be a natural outlet for the application of the skills and knowledge they acquire during their undergraduate years.
Many of our students impact the kingdom of God by using their entrepreneurial skills to grow a mission or ministry. Churches, mission agencies, and ministry organizations all need entrepreneurial thinking and leadership, and many graduates find this to be a rewarding calling.
Our students also explore entrepreneurship opportunities in small businesses and family businesses. Since businesses with fewer than 20 employees represent almost 90% of U.S. employers, the opportunity for growth and advancement in this sector is significant.
Graduates also go on to further study in pursuit of a master’s degree from business schools, law schools, seminaries, or other institutions offering advanced degrees.
The year immediately following graduation is a unique opportunity to participate in fellowship programs. Many of our graduates go on to spend a year in programs like Pittsburgh Fellows or Capital Fellows, where they learn to apply their faith and hone their business skills in a mentoring environment. Many of our students develop a strong sense of personal career vision and calling, and sometimes permanent job offers, as a result of these programs.
