Grove City College offers a Bachelor of Arts in Communication that will prepare you to effectively and artistically harness the power of story. As a communication major, you will harness the fundamentals of storytelling and a strong set of specialized skills, while benefiting from abundant professional development opportunities and mentorship from accomplished faculty. Wherever God leads you after graduation, you will be equipped to compel diverse audiences and positively shape culture.

  • Highly accomplished Christian faculty – Gain access to caring faculty who serve as guides and mentors and whose personal investment in students’ lives often extends far beyond graduation.
  • Build your storytelling “toolbox” – Cultivate skills including creativity, production, screenwriting, scriptwriting, photography, editing, layout and design, interviewing, social media writing, understanding of narrative and messaging, and more.
  • Hands-on experience – Participate in organizing our annual Lux Mea Film Festival through the Special Events and Promotions course. Students can also submit works created in our film courses as contenders for prizes and for the enjoyment of the campus and local community.
  • Research opportunities – Work alongside experienced, published faculty in areas including journalism, public relations, art, rhetoric, and performance, as well as applied research opportunities with companies such as IBM, Carnegie Museum of Art, and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, among others.

  • Certification opportunities – Become equipped to offer in-demand social media expertise to your future employer. Certifications include Hootsuite Platform Certification and Hootsuite Social Media Marketing Certification.

    • Fully equipped art studio with easels, potter’s wheels, kilns, and hand-building equipment and tools.
    • Apple© media lab and spacious drafting tables for graphic design.

Program Specifics

    • Opportunities to specialize in film, journalism, public relations, strategic communication, content management, visual communications, broadcast media, digital media, and other niche areas.
    • Major core requirements in public speaking, principles of media, writing for the media, theories of communication, research methods, intercultural communication, persuasion theory, and rhetorical criticism.
    • Electives in courses related to media, design, culture, theory, and professional and technical subjects.
