A long-established leader in information technology, Grove City College provides comprehensive resources to expand learning and equip students to succeed in college and career. As an incoming freshman, you will receive the following as part of your technology package:
*Yours to keep upon graduating.
Because we include equipment and services in the cost of tuition (at a minimal percentage of the total cost), you won’t have the extra expense of paying for a laptop, software, ancillary equipment, or technical support. Unlike most schools, Grove City College does not charge a technology fee, which can run anywhere from $500 to $1,300 annually on top of the cost of purchasing a laptop, which most schools require. We are committed to saving you money and maintaining equal technology access for all students on campus. Upon graduation, you get to keep your laptop (valued at over $2,000) and equipment, adding value to the package beyond your years as a student.
With one fewer decision to make, you can enjoy a summer free of laptop shopping! On move-in day, you’ll receive your technology package with step-by-step training to ensure that you’re up and running for the first day of classes. With these tools at hand, you’ll have seamless access to resources that significantly shape our learning environment, including high-end software that varies depending on your major and course requirements. You’ll also enjoy campus-wide wireless access, plus full wired-port availability for charging in your dorm room, classrooms, labs, and most other locations.
In addition, our help desk in the Technological Learning Center (TLC) provides more than 100 hours of “white-glove” live-support service per week. In the TLC you can connect to printers and take advantage of a generous printing stipend. If you need repairs, new parts, or assistance with software installation, TLC staff are always there for you. Moreover, all files are backed up on OneDrive, giving you peace of mind if data is ever lost or misplaced. Of our 90% of students who use the help desk, over 90% are satisfied with the services provided.
From in-class discussions to weekly assignments and group projects, you will use the same network as professors and peers, increasing collaboration in and out of the classroom. Often, you will find support in tech-savvy fellow students with whom you study and interact daily. Thanks to technological uniformity, faculty can freely focus efforts on student engagement and course objectives without a limiting technological disparity among students. This environment not only encourages sharing and collaboration but moreover prepares you for the world of work—where the ability to use technology effectively and efficiently alongside your colleagues is typically preferred or required.
