We work closely with affiliate programs to help ensure the study abroad experience can be as seamless as possible. If you decide to go with an affiliate program, we walk you through the process - from choosing a program to filling out an application, from travel to your country of choice to re-entry into the United States.
Our office works closely with department chairs and the Office of the Registrar to ensure that your courses are equivalent to courses offered at here at Grove City College. We help you obtain health insurance coverage along with other essentials.
No. Study abroad is for everyone! All students can study abroad. Some majors may require a good deal of preparation and planning though - so start early!
Regarding language, we have had many students study abroad without prior language experience. However, your study abroad experience will go more smoothly if you familiarize yourself with basic language skills for your country of choice. We encourage you to take advantage of Mango Language Learning Software. Access to this language software is provided to Grove City College students and faculty. Simply use your Grove City College email and password to register.
The Stan & Karen Johnson Office of Global Programs strives to keep each affiliate program aligned with the cost of a semester at Grove City College. From time to time, there may be additional costs such as airfare, housing, or food, dependent upon program choice. The Office of Global Programs has scholarship support available to qualified students. With planning and forethought, anyone can study abroad – even those on tight budgets.
It is difficult to guarantee complete safety when traveling to a foreign country, however the Stan & Karen Johnson Office of Global Programs works diligently in its communications to students and parents to keep you apprised of potentially unsafe conditions, travel alerts and restrictions. In advance of your travel, we provide informational sessions to help guide and assist you in learning more about how to remain as safe as possible while abroad.
The Stan & Karen Johnson Office of Global Programs provides intersession and summer experiences abroad in addition to semester-long experiences. Typically, these Faculty-Led Courses involve several weeks abroad during which students earn three to six credits, and there is no limit on how many courses a student can be enrolled.
All affiliate providers have summer study programs available and most have programs for study during the first few weeks of January. You should ensure that their program does not overlap with the start of the spring semester.
